Getting Your Southwest Florida Home Ready for Season
November in Southwest Florida has its own rhythm. The license plates multiply, the restaurants fill back up and half the neighborhood turns their lights on for the first time since spring. Whether you are just getting back, getting ready for guests or getting the year round house in shape for the holidays, this is the checklist we see working all over the region.
If You Are Just Getting Back
- Walk the whole house before you unpack. Check ceilings and window corners for water stains, run every faucet and flush every toilet. Small problems from a long summer are much cheaper found in November than in February.
- Give the lanai furniture an honest look. A Florida summer is brutal on cushions and frames. If the rust and mildew beat the cleaner this year, replacing now beats apologizing to guests in December.
- Open the garage with a trash bag in hand. Whatever you meant to deal with in April is still there. It did not improve.
The Guest Room Reclamation
Every SWFL home has one. The guest room that quietly became the storage room sometime around June. With holiday visitors four to eight weeks out, November is the month to make the call on every box and bin in there. The honest question for each item is simple. Would you rather store this or host comfortably? Donate what deserves a second life, and our Southwest Florida donation guide lists exactly who takes what. Local thrift stores restock fastest right now, so your donations find homes quickest in these weeks.
The Garage Reset
Season means more cars, more bikes, more beach gear and more projects, and they all want garage space. The reset that works is ruthless and fast. Everything out of one corner at a time, three piles, keep, donate, gone. The keep pile goes back on shelves, the donate pile goes to the organizations above and the gone pile is where we come in. A quarter trailer load starts at $125 and most single garage resets fit in a half trailer. Posted prices, no estimate appointment.
Hosting Without the Scramble
If Thanksgiving or Christmas is at your house this year, work backward from the date. Cleanouts and donations in November, deep cleaning the week before guests, and nothing left for the day they land. Our cleaning team books up as season builds, so the earlier the date goes on the calendar the better the options.
And When You Head Back North
The other half of the seasonal rhythm is the leaving. When the house will sit empty from spring to fall, someone should be laying eyes on it. Storms, leaks, pests and power outages do their worst damage in empty houses, and insurance companies increasingly want to know a home is being checked. Our home watch service does exactly that, regular checks with photo updates while you are away, from the same local crew you already know. Worth a conversation before the spring migration, not during it.
However your season starts, welcome back. And if the garage, the guest room or the lanai needs a hand getting there, call or text (239) 799-1246. The price you see is the price you pay.
